COVID-19 UPDATE as of Sunday 29th March, 2020

UPDATE regarding your upcoming appointment/s:

Healthwise has decided to cease all face-to-face sessions in response to the current health situation.

All sessions will now be conducted via phone or video call.

As of 30th March, 2020, the Federal Government has now made Telehealth for Psychology available to all persons with a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

This means all exisitng patients currently accessing our services under Better Access (Medicare) are eligible for this new bulk billing arrangement.

So what do you need to do if you already have an upcoming appointment and wish to keep it?

You need to have a computer, ipad, or smart phone and download ZOOM - easy!

Most computers and smart phones already have cameras and microphones but if you are using an older PC, you might want to check for audiovisual capabilities (otherwise use your smart phone!)

You will receive your usual SMS apppointment reminder and we ask you to please respond like you normally do.

When your appointment comes around, we will send a zoom meeting-link to either your phone or email. If you are not sure, our receptionist will be calling you ten minutes before your appointment to ensure you are ready to go (and to assist you with any IT support as needed).

Under the Government's new Telehealth arrangment,  we are unable to charge a gap for a short period of time. Obviously, this is going to cause a significant impact at our end - but for now, the main thing is we can continue to provide you with a service and we will endeavour to work through the challengesas they arise.

Remember, we are ALL in this together and Healthwise Qld are committed to ensuring we support you as much as possible as we too, learn to navigate through this unchartered territory of online consults and distance therapy.

We will be in touch soon!

Fee Increase from 1st July 2020 - SUSPENDED.

Previous advice about our fee increase will be suspended until 30th June, and will be reviewed after the current covid-19 situation has settled.

We had originally advised that from July 1, 2020, Healthwise Qld would be increasing their fees to align with the National Fee Schedule.  The Australian Psychological Society (APS) publishes a recommended schedule of fees as a guide for psychologists providing private psychology services. The previous Recommended Schedule of Fees published by the APS is $251 for a 46 minute consultation.

However, due to the Covid-19 situaiton, all Clinical Psychology telehealth sessions will be temporarily BULK BILLED until the Government lifts this restriction.   This means, you will not be asked to pay a gap fee at this time, however, normal fees will be resuming soon. Please speak to your psychologist if fees become an issue or concern.

Unfortunately,  Medicare will not rebate provisional psychologists. If you wish to continue seeing your Provisional Psychologist, you will be required to pay a fee of $75.

We are hoping to find alternate funding options to support our clients currently booked with any of our Provisionals (Michael, Emma and Sharon). We will keep you updated!

If you can not afford this fee, please advise us ASAP so we can discuss your options and ensure you are not disadvantaged because of an inabilty to pay.

We appreciate this is quite confusing for a lot of our clients - please feel free to give us a call and we will happily explain the situation and accomodate you as best we can.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.
